Two posts for the price of one!

Feb. 28th- My husband gets a call saying there is a wild fire down county road 18. We turn on the scanner and listen to all the squeals and reports going through.. I pack an overnight bag and gather the dog and the kids shoes just to be safe. We had a different wild fire come through in 2009 that came up into our back yard (pictured below) so all these same fears start resurfacing.
I was starting to get nervous so in an attempt to keep my mind and hands busy I started working on the pantry that hasn't been painted since its install. As I'm pulling the cans and shelves out, we hear another report that the fire is now on county road 22- the road Evan's parents house is on. Evan gives his parents a call and they say that the fire can be seen through the tree row but It looks like it is starting to get under control. I put the bags by the front door as a precaution and we start some dinner in our kitchen that is now littered with boxes and cans.
The next day we head out to see his parents and of course where all was burned.

Fortunately, due to our wonderful *volunteer* fire department no lives or buildings were lost in our area.
Thinking its time to write a check... ;)
and yes I did finally get the pantry painted after two days!

March 3rd- Our Thursday Review Club hosted an art show featuring Mr. Wells from Oklahoma City. http://www.jackwellsart.com/
Later that evening we had a Cowboy banquet hosted by Dolores and Brenda, who spent all day decorating and cooking a wonderful dinner!

The boy scouts provided us with dessert- Dutch oven cobbler!

Mrs. Britt read some cowboy poetry.

and we also had a couple of local boys- Nathan and Cory- sing a few songs.
Over all it was a wonderful night with great company and I cant wait until our next meeting!

Hope you have a happy and safe week!
Christine
